Dr. Jackie Leung - Senior Piano
Canadian pianist Dr. Jackie Leung (Jacqueline Ching-Ling Leung) has performed and presented internationally in North and South America, The Middle East, Hong Kong and the UK at various festivals, educational series and universities. Dr. Leung has also shared the stage with members of the International Contemporary Ensemble, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Continuum Contemporary Ensemble and others.
Dr. Leung has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from Stony Brook University. She also has a Masters and a Bachelor degree in piano performance with a minor in management from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University and an Intermediate Award from the Dalcroze Eurhythmics International Board. She has taught music courses at Schulich School of Music at McGill (2006-9) and at Stony Brook University (2013-2015). She currently manages her teaching studio, adjudicates festivals and competitions and is an examiner for Royal Conservatory of Music examinations.
Eleanor Gummer has been teaching children of all ages for over 40 years. She holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from McGill University, a Bachelor of Music degree (U of Manitoba), Fellowship and Licentiate diplomas from Trinity College of Music, London and an ARCT. In addition, Ms. Gummer studied in Europe, and New York and has performed across Canada. Ms. Gummer is a former Senior Examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music. Eleanor is actively involved in the research of women composers, publishing nearly 20 volumes of music by women. She is also the author of Pianokids® Violinkids® Guitarkids® and Ukulelekids®, methods for young children, published by One Eye Publications and available at Long & McQuade across the country. Ms. Gummer is the founder and director of Whitby School of Music and is active as an adjudicator, clinician and composer. Alana Hawley Purvis - Speech Arts Alana is an actor and vocal coach who has worked with institutions across North and Central America including: Bard on the Beach, The Stratford Festival, University of Alberta, The Wellness Centre of Alberta, Douglas College, On the Mic Voice Over Studio, the Citadel Banff Professional Program, Arts Umbrella, The Speech Studio and El Salvador’s Es Artes!. She is a graduate of the American Academy for Classical Acting (MFA) and The Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre Training. She has performed with various theatre companies including: Shakespeare Theatre Company, The Stratford Festival, Canadian Stage, The Arts Club, Citadel Theatre, Theatre Calgary, and Alberta Theatre Playhouse. She was nominated for Best Actress at the Canadian Screen Awards in 2022 and serves on the Canadian Screen Awards Jury for 2024. Alana is the recipient of the 2013 Royal Conservatory of Music’s National Gold Medal for Speech Arts and Drama ARCT Performance and the 2014 National Gold Medal for ARCT Teachers. www.alanahawleypurvis.com Instagram: @alanahawleypurvis Tony Clarke - Strings and Chamber Groups Tony Clarke is a distinguished violinist and educator whose 30 year career spans the United Kingdom, Canada, and international concert stages. Tony studied violin at the Trinity College of Music, London, and quickly established himself as an active orchestral musician. During this time, he performed with the Hammersmith Philharmonic, Kensington Symphony, and Forest Philharmonic, while also maintaining a private teaching studio. After relocating to Canada, Tony spent four years performing with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and toured nationally with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. He continued his professional development through private studies with renowned concertmasters Moshe Hammer and Cenek Vrba of the Calgary Philharmonic, as well as Arthur Polson, concertmaster of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra. Based in Vancouver for many years, Tony held the position of Concertmaster with both the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra for fourteen years. His performance career has included concerts with the Vancouver Symphony Ensemble and appearances throughout Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, Saskatoon, Prince George, and the Fraser Valley. He is also a longtime member of the Romanza String Quartet. Tony Clarke is highly regarded for his musical leadership, breadth of orchestral experience, and dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians through performance and teaching.
